Synopsis
By day Abby Russell is a dedicated nurse, someone you wouldn’t hesitate to trust your life with. It’s starts out with main character, FBI agent Audrey Parker being sent on a job to a town called Haven. As she’s driving out there the road suddenly cracks, (literally) she loses control and she nearly drives off a cliff, Luckily it gets wedged and the front end of is only hanging off edge, Nathan Wuornos a Local police officer in Haven, shows up right on time and pulls her from the car, to which the car dives to its death. This is where They begin to start solving the crime she initially come for together, with this she begins to notice all the oddities in Haven.

I started this post when season 1 started, its been in drafts since then, season 2 is about to start (July 15 2011) so I thought I’d get it done. Haven is one of my new favourite shows, I’ve always been a fan of SciFi and this really hits the spot. Its is based of The Colorado Kid by Stephen king, horror movies It and Pet Cemetary are also based on Stephen King’s work. Haven has minimal horror but includes good mystery, in each episode it is always interesting and well written, they include light humour and drama, twists, good charactor development with back stories. And they never leave out a good amount of gore and suspense.

The Killing, great new show brought to you by AMC, the people who brought you Mad Men and the Walking Dead. The story revolves around 2 homicide detectives solving the murder of Rosie Larsen, wilst its being solved, it’s interfering with a candiate running for mayor, this is because Rosie was found in the back of a presidential car that belonged to him. We also get an insight to see how Rosie’s family deals with her death, and the lengths her Father will go to avenge her.

This was awesome.

A girl institutionalized by her step father, uses a alternative reality in her mind as a result of a lobotomy and with this fantasizes about escaping with other girls also institutionalized.

The CGI used in this film made for a visually enthralling treat to the eyes and the mind.

Stieg larsson, the auther of the millinnium trilogy, who unfortuntly passed away in 2004 after he wrote the girl with the dragon tattoo. He also wrote two unpublished manuscripts; The Girl who played with fire and the Girl who kicked the hornets nest.

The girl who played with fire, was still a good book and had the same writing techniques used in the girl with the dragon tattoo, like how parts of one story are weaved within another, but, I suppose in this one the story didnt seem as captivating, it actually took me longer to read.

I read the book at the end of last year and was captivated right till the very end, it had the perfect mix of character development, twists, a solid plot with likable characters. I really love Lisbeth Salander, I like that she is the black sheep in a heard of white sheep, she’ll only listen to herself, and have no influence from others in deciscions she makes, also she is a brilliant hacker. I also love the way the story was written, each part was weaved beautifully within each other. It was developed into a film, set in its original location of Sweden. I thought the film was great, I did notice though that parts in the book that i thought were great, actually never appeared in the film.

Director of Fight Club David Fincher has been brought in to direct the american version of The Girl with the Drgaon Tattoo. With Rooney Mara to star as Lisbeth Salander.
